Roundtable releases Sustainable Funding Options Report

On January 10, 2017, the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable (CRWR) achieved a significant next step towards establishing a sustainable funding model to build its capacity, allow for long-range planning, and implement Strategies for Action outlined in the Lower Coquitlam River Watershed Plan. The report, “Sustainable Funding Options – Recommendations for the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable – Funding Proposal, January 11, 2018” is based on extensive background research and consultation with experts, watershed residents, and members of the CRWR. The resport and recommends establishing a new funding model that is diverse, to encompass the various sectors involved in the CRWR and to support financial robustness. A detailed review of funding mechanisms is also included in the report.

 Next Steps through 2018

A financial structure and delivery method will now need to be developed for the preferred funding mechanisms, which will require close collaboration between the CRWR and core funding partners. The CRWR’s Capacity and Resilience Sub-Committee, and supported by the Communications Sub-Committee will lead next steps forward for the Roundtable through 2018.
