March eNews: Springing Forward

As the snow melts in the Coquitlam River watershed, flowers begin to bloom and new leaves begin to appear. The Roundtable is excited to announce two events in the watershed in the coming months. Make sure to SAVE THE DATE and mark your calendars for the Tri-Cities All Candidates meeting on Water on Wednesday, April 12 and the Community Roundtable meeting on Saturday, June 10.

The Roundtable continues to build the organization's capacity and resilience by preparing a business plan to secure sustainable financing and capacity in the Coquitlam River watershed. With recent funding support from the development community, the Roundtable is well positioned to build a working relationship with developers in the watershed to achieve the common goal of a healthy and vibrant watershed.

In the past months, Roundtable and Core Committee members had the opportunity for information sharing and network development through:

  •     The publication of an article in the Municipal World magazine,
  •     An interactive presentation with students at BCIT,
  •     An update presentation and discussion at the REFBC,
  •     Bringing up-to-date a fish habitat and enhancement project and smolt releases map of the Coquitlam River, and
  •     Participating in webinars on the topics of Stormwater Management and Sustainable Funding for Watershed Health.

The Roundtable is ready for a busy Spring as planning for these events and implementation of projects continue to develop. Stay tuned on our website and social media outlets for updates and to learn how you can be involved!
